Loki is a fantastic character as is, but what’s special about him in Loki is that it seems like the writers are finally writing him for the audience he has rather than the audience he was initially aimed at. And honestly, I’ve been pleasantly surprised so far! Despite not liking the premise and the idea of The Timekeepers as a whole, the characters, humor, cinematography, choreography of fight scenes, and use of color are so fun and engaging. However, I stuck it out, because my love for Loki knows no bounds. I also hate multiverses! So, yeah, bit of a bummer that the entire premise revolves around a time-authority-organization that uses time travel to prevent multiverses from happening. If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I hate time travel, especially in regards to Marvel and DC. So when I found out that the entire premise is time travel-related, my excitement for the show plummeted. I didn’t know what it would be about, what it would entail, or which characters would be involved. I had no idea what to expect from this show. Now, Marvel has finally put out a show all about the god of mischief himself, and I am so amped.īefore we continue, I must give you your OFFICIAL SPOILER WARNING. Got it? Okay, good. At times, these moments may grow somewhat tiresome to casual viewers, but hardcore fans and comic readers will be left drooling from all the doors Loki has just opened to the MCU.It’s been almost a decade since The Avengers (2012) came out, and since that fateful day little thirteen year old me saw it in theaters, Loki has been my favorite Marvel character. If the episode has one drawback, it's the over-reliance on exposition, since most of the finale's story is told from across two sides of a desk at the end of time. The introduction of Kang, or at least a version of him, elevates the finale massively due to Majors' award-worthy performance that ought to raise every viewer's anticipation for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Given the intense discussion that led to the reveal, delivering on the anticipation seemed like an impossible task, and yet the team behind Loki somehow pulled it off. Speculation ranged from safe picks like an evil Loki Variant to the debut of Johnathon Majors' Kang the Conqueror. Always”Įver since the first trailer for Loki, Marvel fans had been closely analyzing every inch of the Disney+ series in search of clues for who was truly behind the TVA. The bond built between the Asgardian God and Owen Wilson's Mobius within this episode alone leads to a heartwarming dynamic, reflecting the genius casting behind the series. Tom Hiddleston's titular anti-hero is given more character development and exploration within this premiere episode alone than his last ten years in the MCU, perfectly demonstrating the potential of Disney+. Fortunately, all three of these elements are balanced just right to create the perfect opening to the MCU's time-traveling crime thriller. The Glorious Purpose of Loki's series premiere is to establish its key characters, build the world of the TVA, and set the stage for the plot to come. The Direct 4.) Episode 1: “Glorious Purpose” Despite feeling like meandering filler at times, it ultimately sets the stage for a grand and ambitious finale in the final minutes, making it a crucial chapter in the overall story. Unfortunately, as a piece of a larger puzzle, the story lacks the adrenaline and significance needed to serve as a fitting predecessor to the series' conclusion.
